Difficult Decisions

Philippians 1:9-10

“This I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment; That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ.”

What of Today’s Verse…

I do not know you, but my most difficult decisions are not about choosing between good and bad. I usually know what is good and what is bad, especially when bad involves evil. My toughest choices are when I have to choose between good, better, and best. My love for God usually overcomes my weakness and I choose good over bad. But unless I have placed myself before God’s word and surrendered my heart to him in prayer, I have a very tough time choosing between good and best. Yet I am convinced that much of what God would love to do through us today does not happen because we have settled for good when he longs to lead us to best!

Let us Pray:

Gracious and Almighty God teach me your ways and give me your heart as I strive to love you, know your will, and have insight into your ways. Help me to know the best things to do today and to use my time in the best way in my work, my family, among my friends, and especially before those who do not know Christ as their Savior. Through him, I pray. Amen.

Words of Wisdom

Patience…

A sense of urgency is crucial to success, and yet just as important to success is patience. These may seem at first to be contradictory attributes, but really they are not. For we must learn to act with urgency, and react with patience. Yes, we reap what we sow - sow with a sense of urgency, and reap with a rational patience.

We must have the patience to let our efforts bear fruit. Nothing worth having can be created immediately. There will be delays, disappointments and setbacks. Patience will help you put it all into perspective, and will give you the perseverance necessary to reach your goals.

Patience will make you confident and decisive. Patience will help you to avoid stress. Patience will give you a rational outlook that eventually leads to success. It will help you to become disciplined, and to avoid poor decisions made in haste.

The keys to patience are acceptance and faith. Accept things as they are, and look realistically at the world around you. Have faith in yourself and in the direction, you have chosen.

Learn to be patient and savor the richness of your life.
